The Edmonton Oilers were close in the Stanley Cup Finals, but need more scoring in their lineup, and now they may have found an intriguing solution to the problem.

While the Edmonton Oilers boast two of the most gifted offensive players in the NHL, their depth around Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl struggled mightily the longer the playoffs went on. With limited time before both are set to make free agency decisions, the Oilers need to chase the Stanley Cup now, and it may lead them to make some big moves this summer.

They've already been linked to Alberta boy Jake DeBrusk, but now Jason Gregor has thrown another interesting name in the mix for an off-season pickup.

Jeff Skinner will have made $100m after his buy out, but he's yet to play one playoff game.

Have to think he would sign a lower AAV to play on a competitive team.

He has scored 33,35 and 24 goals the past three seasons. Had 82 pts in 2023.

EDM, VGK, TB, DAL are competitive teams with good Cs who could use another scorer.

In his career, Skinner is yet to tase the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and given that the Sabres have bought him out recently, he's in a perfect spot to take a cheap deal to chase that success. It's unclear what his market will be when free agency begins on July 1st, but with a clear spot in the lineup alongside superstar Leon Draisaitl, it may be a move too good to pass up for the veteran winger.
