Concerning update on Patrik Laine and his future in Columbus

While he's not been the star they would have hoped, many believe in Patrik Laine's ability in Columbus, but now an update has revealed his future may lie elsewhere.

Patrik Laine is one of the most naturally talented players in the entire NHL, and while he's flashed promise in Columbus, even the addition of Johnny Gaudreau hasn't brought out the best in the former No. 2 overall pick. Now, while he is still dealing with the NHL's Player Assistance Program, he's given a major hint into his future in the NHL.





According to a report, the $2.75 million downtown apartment that Laine has owned since arriving in Columbus is officially up for sale, and while it may be a simple move, it could be so much more than that. Despite that potential, Laine just hasn't excelled with the Columbus, so much so that the GM of the Blue Jackets reportedly listened to trade calls on Laine at the past trade deadline.

This doesn't reveal much about his future, as he could simply be moving within the city or it could indicate that he's being traded/released, but with so much options, it's hard to accurately speculate at this point. Regardless, the organization has so much work to do this summer, and if they can get an asset back for Patrik Laine, it may be the way to go for Columbus.
