Patrik Laine was finally traded to the Montreal Canadiens this past week, and reportedly, it came at the push of four veteran teammates. After weeks of speculation, the Columbus Blue Jackets finally moved Patrik Laine this past week, and now we may know another reason why this happened. According to a report, a meeting was held in Columbus, attended by four big name veterans, all of whom demanded the organization move not only Laine, but goaltender Elvis Merzlikins as well. «Cam Atkinson, Seth Jones, Zach Werenski, and Gustav Nyquist were reportedly among the veterans present at that meeting. «The players came out of it with the following conclusion: you gotta get Laine and Merzlikins out of here' reported Portzline.» Via TVA Sports

It's unclear exactly what happened to get Jones, Atkinson, Werenski and Nyquist to this point, but shockingly, of those four, Werenski is the only one remaining, with reporter Aaron Portlzine suggesting that in of itself is a troubling point for the organization. «The organization got wind of this meeting and said, You know what? Let's get rid of the players who said that.' It's still troubling. The message it sends is to definitely not express your opinion and be honest.» Aaron Portzline We will now wait and see how things go in Montreal for Laine, as he clearly has the talent to be a goalscorer of the highest caliber, but until he puts it all together, he could continue being a major issue in the locker room.
