Just a few days ago the St. Louis Blues threw out two offers to the Oilers, it appears Edmonton is ready to decide on Dylan Holloway.

The Oilers had seven days to decide on what to do on their side, to counter those offer sheets. According to the NHL website, the deals would require draft pick compensation.

The contract that Broberg accepted with the Blues (two years, $9.16 million) would require a second-round pick as compensation, while the one Holloway accepted (two years, $4.58 million) would require a third-round pick.

News is coming out that the Oilers have already decided on both players, with Elliotte Friedman talking specifically about Dylan Holloway.

"I believe the Oilers will match the offer for Holloway."

Friedman would not come out with that statement unless it was from a good source so expectations are that Holloway will remain with the Oilers.

The Philip Broberg offer sheet is more complex. But if Montreal gets involved with a trade, that will help free up the cap space that is needed for the Oilers to keep Broberg.

This has to be decided by Tuesday 8/20/24.

It seems like a good decision for Montreal and Kent Hughes to get involved, they have plenty of cap space left. Broberg was the 8th overall pick in the 2019 draft.

We will continue to watch and see what comes out of the Oilers camp regarding Holloway and Broberg's future with the organization.
