Connor McDavid and his Wife Lauren Broke the Law on Their First Date Together in Toronto

Lauren Kyle, wife of Connor McDavid, shockingly revealed that on their first date in Toronto, she bought a bottle of wine because the Oilers superstar was underage.

Lauren Kyle recently spilled details about her first date with Edmonton Oilers captain, and now husband, Connor McDavid, in an interview with ESPN's Kat Ellis.

She said that, at the time, McDavid was only 18, so she had to use her ID to buy their wine since the legal drinking age in Ontario is 19.

The interview took place on Feb. 19, just prior to the 4 Nations Face-Off final, where McDavid scored Canada's title-clinching overtime goal and was selected player of the game.

In celebration of the victory, he posted a series of Instagram photographs with Lauren, his parents, and brother Cameron.

Both McDavid and Kyle are Toronto-born but have made their life and home in Edmonton. McDavid has been an Oiler since the Oilers selected him first overall in the 2015 NHL Draft.

A year later, at 19, he became the youngest captain in NHL history. He inked an eight-year, $100 million contract extension in 2017, which will expire after the 2025-26 season. He's expected to sign an even larger deal next year.

Kyle, an interior designer and social media influencer, has launched several businesses in Edmonton.

Her latest, Bar Trove and Trove Living, a bar and small plate restaurant combined with a designer furniture showroom, opens in spring 2025 in the historic Canada Permanent Building.

She gave a sneak peek of the opening on Instagram in February. The couple got engaged in 2023 and got married last year.
