Tonight the Edmonton Oilers have made a last-minute roster signing for the game against the Seattle Kraken.

With goaltender Stuart Skinner unavailable tonight due to the birth of his child the Oilers were in need of a goaltender to go along with Calvin Pickard.

Without an option from the AHL able to get to Edmonton in time for the game the Oilers will instead opt for an Emergency Backup Goalie (EBUG) to fill in and do the job of backing up Pickard for tonight's game.

According to reports the Edmonton Oilers have signed goaltender Tyler Palmer to a contract and he will serve as the backup for the Oilers tonight.

Palmer is a member of the University of Alberta Golden Bears Hockey Club where he has played 15 games so far this season and posted a 2.21 goals against average and a 0.912 save percentage.

At just 21 years old Palmer is coming off of four seasons spent in the WHL before heading to the University of Alberta.

While Palmer is likely not a long-term answer for the Oilers this could lead him to get an opportunity in the AHL after his time with the Oilers comes to an end.

Tonight Pickard, Palmer, and the Oilers will look to take care of business against the Seattle Kraken who currently sit outside of a playoff spot looking in.

For Palmer, this will likely be a short stint in the NHL but accomplishes a dream come true for every hockey player to lace up the skates.

As the night begins it will be interesting to see how Palmer handles his moment in the spotlight and if the Oilers allow him to play.
