Almost 20 games into the NHL season the Edmonton Oilers are still out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and one Oilers reporter has had enough of the team's struggles.

After making the Stanley Cup Finals last season and falling short by one game to the Florida Panthers expectations were high for the Edmonton Oilers.

To begin the season, the Edmonton Oilers have not looked like a Stanley Cup-caliber team and have struggled in every area of the game.

With those struggles throughout their lineup, the Edmonton Oilers find themselves in 9th place in the Western Conference and still looking for answers on how to turn things around.

The Oilers' struggles have created a lot of discussion about what has gone wrong for the team this season and this afternoon Craig Button addressed what he believes is wrong.

While Craig Button seems to think a lack of talent is causing the Edmonton Oilers downfall team reporter Bob Stauffer seems to disagree and thinks there is more of an issue with the team's mindset.

Bob Stauffer rips into the Edmonton Oilers after their terrible start to the season

In a new segment on CHED880, a local radio station in Edmonton reporter Bob Stauffer joined to talk about the Oilers' lack of success.

According to listeners of the program, Bob Stauffer was animated and fed up with the team's lack of urgency and fire in their game.

To this point in the season, there had not been overall concern for the Edmonton Oilers season and there has been a mentality of they'll get it together eventually.

Today with comments from Bob Stauffer that seems to have changed as he has now called out the team's mindset and the culture within the room to an extent.

With the mentality of the team being in question now that is something that often only changes when a major move like a coaching change is made.

Of course, Kris Knoblauch only took over in Edmonton in the middle last season and did a great job resurrecting the season.

However, if he can't get things back on track soon will he have a short leash before new GM Stan Bowman pulls the trigger and finds a new head coach.

Keep in mind that Kris Knoblauch was not Stan Bowman's hire but was there before he took over the role so there could be some natural tension there.

At the moment a coaching change is not in the cards but if the Edmonton Oilers continue to slide the conversation could begin about making a drastic change.
