A towering 6-foot-4, the right-handed defenseman has yet to play this season due to a knee injury. Early in the 2019-20 season, the Wings traded Regula to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for forward Brendan Perlini. The leading defenceman for London in 2019-20, Regula starred in all situations, collecting 60 points and a plus-39 rating in 56 games before the pandemic cut the season short. Now signed to a one-year, $775,000 deal, Regula comes in as the Edmonton Oilers organization currently struggles with cap issues. Per PuckPedia, the Oilers are presently over the cap by $255,000, and it's likely they use LTIR relief or move a body to the Bakersfield Condors to get into compliance.
