The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up to trade top forward Evander Kane, signaling an end to his time in Oil country. According to The Hockey Writers, the Oilers have decided to part ways with Kane, but it's unclear whether that's through a trade or buyout. The Oilers are moving on from Evander Kane

After his contract was terminated by the San Jose Sharks in September of 2022, due to him lying about vaccination, Kane joined Edmonton for what many saw as his last chance in the NHL.

Kane's performance on the ice has been stronghe scored 26 goals in 76 games last season. Unfortunately, injuries derailed him making an impact in the Stanley Cup Final against the championed Florida Panthers. He still has two years remaining on his contract with a $5.125 million cap hit. However, with team president Jeff Jackson adding Jeff Skinner and Viktor Arvidsson this Summer, it makes sense to pull the trigger and save money. It remains to be seen if another team will take a chance on Kane or if his time in the NHL is coming to an end. Only time will tell.
