Kyle Okposo has been a fantastic player in the NHL over the past 17 years, and now, he has officially called an end to his solid career. The NHL season is officially around the corner, but before that begins, we've seen yet another retirement announcement, this time from one of the league's most respected players. After grinding in New York and Buffalo for the past 17 years, Kyle Okposo finally got his shot at the Stanley Cup in 2024 with the Florida Panthers, and after tasting success, the veteran forward will now officially hang up his skates.

In his retirement announcement, Okposo penned a very emotional statement directed at fans of the Islanders, Sabres and the Panthers, for whom he finally captured the Stanley Cup after a lifetime of chasing it. At 36-years of age, there was just nothing left for Okposo to do, as he hangs up the skates as one of the most respected players in the NHL. In 17 years, Okposo played in 1,051 games, netting 242 goals and tallying 614 points, and while he never took his game to an MVP level, he was a consistent force in the league and will no doubt get a job in hockey somewhere after his official retirement.
