Marc-Andre Fleury will have all the attention on him this offseason, as he decides whether or not he wants to continue his NHL career, and now he has given us an update on his future plans. It was thought that this was going to be Marc-Andre Fleury's last season in the NHL, even though he hadn't confirmed anything or made anything official. He had the tell-tale signs of an upcoming retirement, even getting emotional in his former city of Pittsburgh. However, it looks like we could get one more year of Fleury, as he gave a massive update in an interview on his future with the Wild. He noted that the door is open for him to return next year, given what the Wild's plans are. «I'd like to sit down with (Wild GM Bill Guerin) and have a chat with him,» he said. «I want to know what he thinks. What are the plans for the Wild? What are his options? What does he think about me? Am I still an asset for the team? «We also have another good young goalie in the American Hockey League in (Jesper) Wallstedt. He's been playing in (the AHL) for two years now. I'll need to know Bill's plans.»

Fleury noted that he would likely retire in Minnesota during his interview.
This makes the decision at least a little easier on fans, who probably were hoping for the future Hall of Famer to potentially join their team of choice for one last playoff run. This is consistent with what he did at this year's trade deadline, too. «Yeah, it's probably Minnesota or retirement,» he said. «If I come back, I'd sign a one-year contract. And then, we'll figure it out from there.» We will see if Fleury decides to play another season next year.
