After two decades of consistent hockey, one of the best goaltenders of this past generation has now officially revealed when he will hang the skates up. Before this past season, many expected Marc-Andre Fleury to announce his retirement from the NHL, but the veteran continued to play on, having another solid season for the Minnesota Wild. Now, the 39-year old has officially made a call on his future, revealing that the 2024-25 campaign will be the last year of his stellar career in the league.

Future Hall of Fame goalie Marc-Andre Fleury confirmed today what he said at his end of year media availability, the next season will be his last. 🌸

While tributes will no doubt flow in for Fleury, the Minnesota Wild remain a team pushing for a playoff spot, so he still has a major job to do as he looks to go out on top. During his career, Fleury won three Stanley Cup's as well as a Vezina Trophy, and has risen to the top-five in many statistical categories in NHL history, including sitting second all-time in wins. At the end of the day, Fleury will go down as one of the best goaltenders in a generation full of them, and for some, he will be considered top 5-10 of all time, and given his consistency and brilliance over a two-decade long career, it's hard to argue that fact.
