A former scout of the Montreal Canadiens and video coach for other NHL teams has sadly passed away, as reported by Colorado Avalanche journalist Adam Dater.

Scott Masters started off his career as an NHL video coach, and then transitioned to role of pro scout for the Canadiens. He was only 46 years young, leaving many in the hockey world completely shocked by this news.

"RIP to former Avs video coach Scott Masters. Scott also worked in the Florida, St. Louis and Montreal organizations."

- Adrian Dater

During Masters' time as NHL video coach, he worked for three teams, those being the Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues and the Florida Panthers. He had that role for those teams from 2001 to 2013. He then decided to change career paths, and get into the pro scouting world, thanks in large part to his mentor, legendary GM Doug Armstrong. He assumed that role for the Canadiens from 2013 to 2019.

Our deepest condolences go out to the entire Masters family and friends. This situation is definitely not easy, especially when considering how young Masters was and how much life he still had ahead of him. He is no doubt looking down on everyone from above, and will likely catch a few hockey games from up there next season.
