Canadiens' Cole Caufield is known for scoring goals, not chewing hands, but unfortunately in last night's game, he was caught on camera for biting.

Yesterday's game between the Canadiens and the Vegas Golden Knights took a humorous turn when, in the heat of the moment, Cole Caufield seemed to bite Alex Pietrangelo's glove after it was pressed into his face.

The subtle, reflexive act did not get past keen-eyed fans, and since then, video clips have been making rounds online.

While it was nowhere near the level of controversy or premeditation compared to some of the antics pulled off by Brad Marchand or Brendan Lemieux, for example, it's the kind of quirky moment that gets people talking.

In Cole Caufield's case, there didn't seem to be any malice or danger involved, just an instinctive reaction that might best be filed under the bloopers category.

It remains to be seen whether the Department of Player Safety will be taking an extra look into this situation, as perhaps they may not have found it too funny.

The referees didn't catch it during the game, thus likely saving Caufield from a minor penalty.

But the real highlight of the night wasn't the glove incident; it was how good Caufield was aside from this incident. He scored his 19th of the season, starting the Canadiens' thrilling comeback in Las Vegas.

Only 23, Caufield had reached an important milestone with his 100th goal and reached a sum of 183 points in only 242 games played.

As it relates to this season, 19 goals in 37 games point out a continuous contribution from him towards team success.

Caufield brings that energy and enthusiasm onto the ice, fuelling not only his own accomplishments but also the momentum of the Canadiens.

It's those moments when one remembers: not only is he a great player, but he is fun to watch. He just needs to keep his teeth in check!
