If Ottawa Senators fans thought owner Michael Andlauer was over the mess Eugene Melnyk made before selling the franchise to him, that's not the case.

Right after Andlauer bought the team, he was hit with a massive penalty for infractions that happened under the previous ownership. The punishment? He lost a valuable first-round draft pick and felt he was being treated unfairly because it wasn't under his watch.

Andlauer didn't shy away from taking a jab at NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.

It was a very busy year with a couple of speed bumps. When Gary Bettman called me last night I said, 'Oh boy, I hope I haven't lost another first-round draft pick for next year.

First-round picks are golden in the NHL, so losing one without any heads-up would sting any new owner and fanbase. Those in the hockey world were behind Andlauer's comments, showing their support. The commissioner should've lightened the blow being things changed at the top of the organization. Maybe a fine would suffice.

I don't think there's anybody that should have any concerns about the future of this franchise in Ottawa. The best days of this franchise are yet to come.

Andlauer's frustrations seem mild compared to the hefty punishment he and his ownership group faced but there's nothing he can do about it now. It's also possible the last time you will see him publicly criticize the commissioner.
