Paul Bissonnette is not a guy who holds back his feelings, and he recently put the blame on Sidney Crosby's mother regarding a jersey number change.

In 2008-09, former fourth-round pick Paul Bissonnette was making his NHL debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins after three years of play in the AHL.

A feisty forward donning No. 67, Paul Bissonnette wasn't exactly known for finesse. Instead, he used physicality, such as his fists, to find his way into the league.

One of many cool moments that season came about during one of the pre-season fights when Sidney Crosby's mom confused him for her son simply because of the number on his jersey, which put her in quite a panic.

Because of this, the Penguins asked him to switch his number from 67 to 16. Even though he played only 15 games in the NHL with Pittsburgh, there came some cool stories attached to him.

"He said, 'Hey, pick a number here, we're going to change it up.' I'm like, 'No, I made the team, I had a great camp, I like to stick with 67.' And he's like, 'No.' And I'm like, 'Hey, I like to keep my number.'

But basically what he said was, 'Sid's parents were watching the game, and it looks too much like 87. You got to change it up.' So basically, I got pigeon tossed by Sid's mum, and I had to change my number."

The gritty Bissonnette later joined the Phoenix Coyotes, bringing his style to 187 games. In all, he would play 202 games over six seasons in the NHL and four more in the AHL before retiring in 2017.

After retiring from playing professional hockey, Bissonnette became a wildly successful cohost of the 'Spittin' Chiclets' podcast and one of the faces of TNT's NHL coverage.

Really, he is a super example of how embracing his strengths has brought rewards inside and outside of the rink.

Although he didn't really have any tenure with the Penguins, the number change, considering how unique it has been, made the call right for the team and Sidney Crosby's family back in 2008.
