Dylan Holloway has broken his silence and explained to fans everything he remembers from the horrific incident that saw a puck slam into his neck. Recently, head coach Drew Bannister from the St. Louis Blues gave an update on the current health status of forward Dylan Holloway: The important thing is that he is stable. He is going to be ok. Putting many minds at rest, Bannister added that Holloway is doing well, after an alarming incident during the game. After treatment, Holloway was discharged and, the morning after, took some time to talk to the media. He thanked everyone for the love he'd received and gave his version of events that led to his trip to the hospital. During his question-and-answer session with the media, he further eased the minds of his fans because he sounded calm and was in good health. As soon as the puck hit my neck, I knew something was a little off. As soon as I started skating I felt a little lightheaded a bit and then when I was going to the bench it kind of felt like when you stand up too fast and you get that head rush. It felt like that but it kind of just kept coming on. - Dylan Holloway

He then further explained how rare the injury was, as he'd been struck to the neck in such a way that it stimulated his vagus nerve. This impact caused him to lose consciousness once he got to the team's bench, which immediately sparked concern among teammates and coaches. Specific types of impact can cause a particularly violent reaction of the vagus nerve, which controls heart rate and can affect other vital functions; Holloway's blackout drove home just how grave his condition was at the time.

At this stage, Dylan Holloway and the Blues staff are grateful it wasn't worse. While Holloway will continue to be checked, he and the team are optimistic he'll be on the ice once he is completely healthy. The whole situation with Holloway is one of those unfortunate ones that prove just how unpredictable sporting injuries can be, and his health update was a big relief both to the team and its loyal fanbase.
