The St. Louis Blues have taken to social media to provide everyone with a huge update regarding the health of Dylan Holloway after he got hit in the throat. St. Louis Blues forward Dylan Holloway was seriously injured on Tuesday night in a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. With less than two minutes remaining in the opening period, Holloway took a deflected puck to the throat area. The contact came when Tampa Bay's Nick Paul unleashed a shot that first caromed off the stick of Blues teammate Jordan Kyrou before catching Holloway in an unprotected area of his throat under his shoulder pad.

The game momentarily stopped as the fans and players anxiously watched and awaited word about Holloway's condition. Although in clear pain, and agony, commendably, Holloway was able to finish his shift, clear the puck, and skate to the bench, but showing clear signs of distress. Teammate Alexey Toropchenko quickly signaled to the training staff, who then rushed to assist Holloway. Head athletic trainer Ray Barile and his team promptly attended to the injured forward. Reports later showed that Holloway had been taken to the hospital for further evaluation. Thankfully, all the initial findings showed he was in a stable condition, alert, and not showing any breathing complications, a situation of joy among his team members and fans. The parents of Holloway were in attendance during the game and joined him in the hospital as he received a scan meant for his neck region, out of fears of swelling. Doctors indicated Holloway «will be OK

Ray Barile has spent over three decades in the NHL and also has experience dealing with critical incidents. Again, his expertise came in handy as he handled Holloway's situation with the same care he had done in the past during such emergencies as the cardiac issues of Blues defensemen Chris Pronger and Jay Bouwmeester. Thankfully, it soon emerged that Dylan Holloway's injury was not as serious as had first been feared. The 23-year-old has already shown some promising form this season, scoring six points in his first 12 games. His quick upgrade to stable can now see him focus on his recovery and hopefully rejoining his team very soon.
