Today a new announcement from the San Jose Sharks has confirmed that number one overall pick Macklin Celebrini is being evaluated for an injury.

The San Jose Sharks began a new era for their franchise last night. The debut of Macklin Celebrini was supposed to jumpstart the Sharks' return to playoff contention. The game overall saw a lot of potential for the future as Macklin Celebrini had a multi-point night including a goal against the St. Louis Blues.

Despite his best efforts Celebrini and the San Jose Sharks came up short and lost to the St. Louis Blues 5-4. Even with the loss the Sharks fans were excited and hopeful for the future now that Macklin Celebrini had finally arrived. However, this afternoon those hopes seem to be crashing down as Macklin Celebrini is dealing with a potential injury.

Sharks head coach David Warsofsky confirms Macklin Celebrini is hurt

In a new interview with the media after yesterday's loss, San Jose Sharks head coach David Warsofsky gave an update on the team. According to a quote from the press conference, Macklin Celebrini is being evaluated for a lower-body injury that could keep him out of the lineup.

Macklin Celebrini came to the San Jose Sharks after an electric season with the Boston University Terriers. In 38 games at Boston University Macklin Celebrini tallied an incredible 64 points. After his dominant season he was the clear choice to become a San Jose Shark. Celebrini was loved by the San Jose Sharks so much that once they secured the number one overall pick they accidentally confirmed they were taking him well before the NHL Draft.

If the San Jose Sharks were to lose Macklin Celebrini with an injury it would be a huge hole at the top of their lineup. The addition of Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith as the Sharks' top two centers was supposed to be the jolt the organization needed to get back on track. Celebrini wanted to be a part of the solution for the San Jose Sharks even before he was drafted by the organization. Now after his electric debut, we could see Macklin Celebrini miss time.

As more reports come out regarding Macklin Celebrini's injury status and potential return to the lineup we will pass the information along to you.
