Seattle Kraken captain Jordan Eberle was helped to his team's dressing room after a massive crash into the boards where he slammed hard with his back first. Things took a bit of an ugly turn throughout the second period of last night's Kraken-Blackhawks game, though, as former first-round draft pick Jordan Eberle went down in a collision and had to be taken off the ice by the Kraken medical staff. The collision involved Eberle and defenseman Connor Murphy just 17 seconds into the period.

Both players heavily crashed into the boards after a trip. Eberle needed assistance off of the rink with the help of Kraken staff member Justin Rogers. Murphy was able to skate away from it. All players and fans watching were surprised by how severe the hit came across, but Eberle's certainly seems the most ominous.

Acquired via the expansion draft by Seattle, Eberle has been a mainstay for the Seattle Kraken since the 2021 inaugural season. He was named team captain on October 8, 2024, taking over for Mark Giordano after he left for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Now, in his fourth season as a Kraken, Eberle is still one of the more prominent leaders on the team. And setting aside team allegiances, there's one universal sentiment from around the hockey world regarding Eberle: get well soon. These kinds of injuries are just a really unsavory reminder of what this sport demands of a body. All one can do is stand and wait for more news, hoping that the best possible outcome heads toward the player who has given plenty back to the sport.
