Steven Stamkos agent breaks silence on his imminent future in the NHL

In a recent interview, Julien BriseBois, general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning opened up on the ongoing contract negotiations with Steven Stamkos.

Stamkos has been the face of the Lightning for over 15 years. Now that the time has come to renew his contract, things seem to be a bit complicated.

According to Julien BriseBois, who addressed the issue in an interview, they still haven't reach a deal that satisfies both camps, but they're confident it can happen before July 1.

Julien BriseBois said they have met with Steven Stamkos & his agents as recently as yesterday said they have not been able to come to a deal at this point that satisfies both sides, won't add more other than he's not sure if they will be able to get a deal done by Monday.

Added that both sides are still interested and motivated to get a deal completed, but not there at this point.

Julien BriseBois met Steven Stamkos' agent yesterday but there is no assurance yet that he will return with the @TBLightning next season.

Stamkos, even at 34 years old, continues to have an impact on and off the ice. His talent, leadership and experience make him an asset that any team would love to have on their roster.

Pierre Lebrun just dropped a tweet revealing that Steven Stamkos will be testing Free Agency on July 1st.

From Stamkos' agent Don Meehan, who tells me regarding his client:
«He will be a free agent on July 1.»
