TSN's Darren Dreger has stated that the Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving would rather re-sign Mitch Marner than fancy a trade this off-season. It's been known since the Toronto Maple Leafs got eliminated from the first round versus the Boston Bruins that Mitch Marner would be the likely one out of the fold in Toronto, however a Mitch Marner trade would guarantee an underwhelming return for the Leafs. Marner, has a full no-movement clause which he is already unwilling to waive it, which would make a trade even harder. This would also give the Leafs a limited number of teams Marner would be willing to go to, which gives all the leverage to the opposite team in the deal.
