With just one day until opening night for the Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has already started controversy ahead of his first game with comments on the team's goaltender.

The Toronto Maple Leafs season begins tomorrow night against the Montreal Canadiens. After a long offseason of questions, the Maple Leafs will finally have an opportunity to go out and show what their group for this season can do.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have several new faces in the lineup tomorrow and behind the bench as well. Head coach Craig Berube will be coaching his first game since being hired by the team this summer.

Ahead of tomorrow's game, the media spoke with goaltender Joseph Woll who has been the presumptive starter throughout the offseason. During the interview, Joseph Woll was asked about his excitement for tomorrow's opener against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre.

Joseph Woll has never played an NHL game in the Bell Centre, but says Wednesday will be "an exciting experience."

To this point, everyone has expected Joseph Woll to be the starter on opening night. Last season he was one of the best players for the Maple Leafs in the Stanley Cup Playoffs before being injured against the Boston Bruins. However, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube spoke to the media following today's practice and seemed to begin a goalie controversy out of nowhere.

Craig Berube starts a goalie controversy ahead of Maple Leafs season opener

During Craig Berube's press conference, the media asked him of course about the lineup for tomorrow's game. Joseph Woll was the first goalie off the ice at practice today which usually signifies that he will be the starting goalie for tomorrow's game. Craig Berube was not ready to commit to this idea though and refused to reveal his plans.

This comment from Craig Berube has not created conversation over the possibility that free agent signee Anthony Stolarz could make his debut. Stolarz signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs in free agency after winning the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers. He had an incredible season for the Panthers culminating in a 2.03 goals-against average and a 0.925 save percentage.

Anthony Stolarz beat out former Maple Leafs backup goaltender Matt Murray after Murray was placed on waivers as he continues to recover from a long-term injury that kept him out last season as well.

So for now the Toronto Maple Leafs goaltending situation for tomorrow night remains a mystery. It could still be assumed that Joseph Woll will be tomorrow night's starter. Morning skate for the Maple Leafs could provide an answer as to whether or not it will be Joseph Woll or newly acquired Anthony Stolarz who makes his Maple Leafs debut.
