The Toronto Maple Leafs have struggled to find consistent offensive production this season and now fans have begun to turn on head coach Craig Berube.

This offseason the Toronto Maple Leafs decided to make a major change firing head coach Sheldon Keefe and replacing him with Craig Berube.

When the change was made the intention was to get the Maple Leafs to play a more playoff-style game and be ready for the Stanley Cup Playoffs by April.

Early returns in the Craig Berube era have been mixed with the Toronto Maple Leafs struggling through a lack of production from stars and injuries.

Recently superstar forward Auston Matthews suffered an injury and has been out of the lineup for the last couple of games. In those games, the Toronto Maple Leafs have played very well.

The Toronto Maple Leafs' success without Auston Matthews has led fans to question both Auston Matthews and Craig Berube. Fans are tired of Auston Matthews being the center of attention and think Craig Berube relies on him too much.

Fans call out Craig Berube for mismanaging his star players

With Auston Matthews out of the lineup, several players for the Toronto Maple Leafs have stepped up big time.

Mitch Marner and John Tavares in particular have had huge games with Auston Matthews out with his injury.

Their success led fans to call out Craig Berube for how he has handed out playing time prior to the Auston Matthews injury. Fans believe Mitch Marner and John Tavares are being held back by Auston Matthews and Craig Berube.

While some fans want to see Mitch Marner get an opportunity at center other fans seem to think that Auston Matthews himself is the problem and want to see him gone.

Of course, Auston Matthews will not end up being traded but this injury could lead Craig Berube to make major changes to the lineup once he returns.

With Mitch Marner showing he can drive his own line and frankly is better away from Auston Matthews maybe trying him at center and trying to finally solve that second line center spot is the answer.

One thing is for certain when Auston Matthews returns things can't just go back to how they were pre-injury. Whether it is changes to the lines or the power-play Craig Berube has to act to give his team the best chance to win.
