Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews has been kept out of playoff hockey for two games now for health reasons. A doctor close to the team has posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Matthews could not be experiencing a head injury, but rather a knee injury. A fan posted that it is speculated that Matthews looked noticeably slower, they wonder about the front and inside of the right knee meaning a potential MCL/LCL tear.

A doctor took to X to reply about the situation, saying that it could even be the MCL and/or the meniscus. The Maple Leafs continue to keep it tight-lipped regarding any player being injured during playoffs, so most of the Matthews news is media speculation.

Head coach Sheldon Keefe took to the media to say that Matthews has been progressing, but no determination will be made on the stars' availability. The Maple Leafs will not rush their superstar back into the lineup as they erased a 3-1 series deficit against the Boston Bruins. They head into game seven with extra confidence now and have hit a new stride, it is likely that the Toronto Maple Leafs will keep Matthews out for the benefit of his long-term health.
