Eastern Conference powerhouse reportedly targeting Sheldon Keefe

Sheldon Keefe has had his fair share of struggles in Toronto, but if he's fired after a Maple Leafs playoff loss, he'll have some interest from rival teams.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are busy preparing for a game seven against the Boston Bruins, but if they are eliminated, it appears things are going to start happening quickly. Under the assumption that Sheldon Keefe would be fired if the Toronto Maple Leafs have another playoff failure, Bruce Garrioch speculated what the future would hold for Keefe, and it would seemingly be a reunion with Kyle Dubas.


There's already been one change in Pittsburgh this off-season, with assistant Todd Reirden fired, and now it's going to be only a matter of time until Mike Sullivan is finally moved on.



If Keefe is fired, it will trigger several moves that include Sullivan heading to the Devils, but the biggest of all would no doubt be Keefe heading to Pittsburgh to once again team up with Kyle Dubas by joining the veteran team led by Sidney Crosby.

It's clear that after years of playoff failures, Maple Leafs fans are fed up with Keefe, and unless they make the Conference Finals at minimum, they'll be quickly calling for his head.


All of this is purely hypothetical at this point, as this all depends on the Maple Leafs play and the decision making from GM Brad Treliving, but if all of this comes to fruition, look for Keefe to potentially land in Pittsburgh quickly.
