The Toronto Maple Leafs have dealt with some injury issues this off-season, and now both Calle Jarnkrok and Jake McCabe are banged up heading into the season.

After falling short in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for years, the Toronto Maple Leafs finally believe they have the depth and the talent to compete for the Stanley Cup in 2024/25. However, their pre-season has been interrupted with constant injuries, and while everyone appears to be getting through them, two veteran Maple Leafs now find themselves on the injury report once more.

According to reporter Nick Barden, both Calle Jarnkrok and Jake McCabe are dealing with injuries that have them classified as day-to-day with just days until the regular season opener on the road against the Montreal Canadiens.

Fortunately, a day-to-day diagnosis isn't the worst possible outcome for either player, who have both been dealing with nagging injuries in the off-season, but now with the regular season just four days away, they will need to get healthy and get back on the ice as soon as they can.

While Calle Jarnkrok's spot in the stacked Maple Leafs forward group isn't guaranteed, McCabe is set to take up a bottom-pairing role with Simon Benoit this season, and while the team have the likes of Timothy Liljegren, Marshall Rifai and Jani Hakanpaa for depth, they believe McCabe is the best player to fill that role. We will continue to bring further updates on their status as the season draws near, and while day-to-day is usually promising, the team won't want either player starting the season at less than 100%, so this could be a story that changes quite a bit in the coming days, for better or for worse.
