The game between the Leafs and Lightning took a scary turn last night when defenseman Jake McCabe received a wrist shot right in the neck. Even without captain Auston Matthews, the Toronto Maple Leafs have somehow managed to hang on within the league's top ten for much of November. But supporters received a fright Saturday night in the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Leading 2-0 in the second period, the Leafs got a scare when Tampa defenseman Nicklaus Perbix unleashed a shot that would have cut the lead. Instead, it hit Toronto defenseman Jake McCabe in the head and neck area, and he was writhing on the ice in pain. Catches him, looks like, right in the ear. - TV announcer

McCabe got up and was able to skate to the dressing room on his own but did not return for the remainder of the contest. But the Leafs kept their patience and skated to a convincing 5-3 win over Tampa Bay. On the bright side, head coach Craig Berube informed fans that McCabe will more than likely be okay and ready for Toronto's next game versus the Chicago Blackhawks this coming Monday, December 2. Jake McCabe is fine and isn't expected to miss any time, per HC Craig Berube. - David Alter With no intentions of McCabe missing ice time, hopefully, his injury won't be a problem come game time.
