The Mitch Marner trade rumors are swirling around Toronto. Here's one that could make sense for both teams. Over in Carolina, Martin Necas is eyeing a change. He's hungry for a bigger role, and it seems like the Hurricanes might be open to moving him. I'll be very surprised if Martin Necas plays for Carolina in the next season. As his dad said, Martin wants to play in 1st line & 1st PP unit. His dad even said in an interview for @DenikSport: ,,Martin wants to be traded.» In my eyes, Necas is a great offensive winger.

Necas had a rough patch last season, but he has potential. If the Leafs could hash out a deal for him, he could easily step into Marner's shoes in the lineup. And with some changes on the power play, he might even get a spot on the top unit.

Now, Hurricanes fans might not be thrilled with what the Leafs would ask for in return. Yet, Marner's a star player, one of the best right wingers in the game. He will come with a hefty price tag, even if it's just for a rental. Here's the gist of the proposed trade: Hurricanes send over Necas (with an extension), a 2024 first-round pick, a 2025 second-round pick, and a prospect. Leafs dish out Marner (also with an extension). It's a win-win setup. Leafs free up some cap space, and get a promising young talent, and grab some extra draft picks. Hurricanes get a star player to amp up their forward lineup, alongside Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov, and Seth Jarvis. The move could give William Nylander more room to shine in Toronto, fitting with his hefty new contract. Marner's got a no-movement clause, so he'd have to give the thumbs up to the trade. Raleigh might not be his top choice, but it's a team in the mix for the cup. Maybe he's ready for a change of pace with a quieter media scene. We'll just have to wait and see. With his free agency looming, clock's ticking trades need to happen by July 1st with the Hurricanes.
