This afternoon a new clip from the most recent Toronto Maple Leafs preseason game has revealed a moment that might have resulted in an injury for Nick Robertson.

The NHL preseason is a time for players to earn roster spots or sharpen up their skills for the upcoming season. While sharpness is the goal preventing injuries is also a major part of things for players in the preseason.

Today there are lingering discussions that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson might have suffered a minor injury against the New Jersey Devils. A slash by Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider on Nick Robertson seemed to have him hobbled heading back to the bench.

Despite the potential injury, Nick Robertson spoke to the media about the upcoming season. He confirmed that he is really pushing to make the opening night roster.

Despite playing parts of several seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs Nick Robertson has not made the team straight out of training camp. Under former head coach Sheldon Keefe he was never given a true opportunity to shine. This season he seems to be ready to make that push after new head coach Craig Berube was complimentary of his game.

He's been great, killing penalties, producing offensively. He's using his feet and using his skill really well, Berube said during an interview in Detroit.

In addition, Nick Robertson got to speak about the upcoming season. He confirms he would be incredibly excited to start the season in the NHL and has plans to bring his parents out to the first couple of games if he makes the roster.

Of course, making the opening night roster is only the beginning for Nick Robertson. He will then have to carve out a role on the NHL roster and fight for ice time. This season could be a huge make-or-break moment for Nick Robertson. If he comes in healthy it could be his last shot to prove he belongs in Toronto before the next wave of prospects comes to the NHL level.
