Three left wingers were linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs in a new report from TSN's First Up, including the most hated player in the NHL: Nick Cousins. After many changes in the offseason, the Maple Leafs are starting to prepare for the start of training camp, and general manager Brad Treliving could be looking to add another player to the lineup at the left wing position, per multiple reports. With that in mind, TSN's First Up linked three interesting players to fill the hole in that position: Nick Cousins, Max Pacioretty, and James van Riemsdyk. They are three players with completely different styles who could bring a lot to the team. First, there's Cousins, voted by his peers as the most hated player in the League. Why? Simply because night after night, he makes questionable decisions that often lead to injuries, which has been a hot topic last season:

However, he still brings something that the Leafs could use. With Craig Berube, a former enforcer, as head coach, Cousins could take his game to the next level in Toronto, months after winning the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers. The second on the list, Max Pacioretty, is coming off a few rough seasons that saw him miss much of the action because of major injuries. Unfortunately for him, at 35 years old, his best years are likely behind him, but he could bring great offensive depth to the bottom six. Let's not forget that the former Montreal Canadiens captain scored 668 points (330 goals) in 902 NHL games in his career. The last one is the former Toronto Maple Leaf James van Riemsdyk. The 35-year-old veteran could be another great option to add offensive depth if he's interested in going back to the organization where he played between 2012 and 2018. His experience and leadership could go a long way in Toronto. Brad Treliving will have some tough choices to make before the start of the season. If he doesn't get either of these players, other teams are likely to do it, which could hurt the Leafs in the long run. Still, waiting until the trade deadline before making a move could prove beneficial for Toronto, as they'll have time to assess what they have and what their needs are mid-season.
