The Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager, Brad Treliving, signed Stanley Cup champion Steven Lorentz to a professional tryout deal. Some internal competition is coming to Toronto ahead of the start of the 2024 training camp. Following some great acquisitions on the blue line, Brad Treliving has finally decided to add reinforcements to the team's bottom-six with Steven Lorentz, who won the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers last season. Joining the team on a PTO, he will try to convince the coaching staff to give him a spot on the bottom-six. Elliotte Friedman made the official announcement on X on Tuesday afternoon. Check out his post here:

Lorentz didn't see much action last season, being healthy scratched for over half of the season. In the regular season, he played only 38 games and 16 in the playoffs, with a combined tally of six points, including three goals. In his career, he has played 230 games and scored 43 points for the Carolina Hurricanes, San Jose Sharks, and Panthers. He was notably part of the trade that sent Anthony Duclair to the Sharks. Things should be interesting this year at the training camp, and we can't wait to see how Lorentz will perform. It wouldn't be surprising to see him play alongside David Kampf on the fourth line, likely taking Connor Dewar's spot on the wing.
