The Utah Hockey Club has unveiled the seating plan for their inaugural season, and fans aren't thrilled about the 10,000 obstructed view seats at the Delta Center. A look inside Utah's NHL arena, featuring 10,000 unobstructed seats 😮💺

It's understandable, given that the arena was originally built for the NBA's Jazz, not for hockey. But change is on the horizon. The Delta Center has hosted preseason NHL games for the past four seasons. However, the current setup limits sightlines for hockey and prevents owner Ryan Smith from hitting the 18,206-seat capacity. Nonetheless, some modifications were made this summer, and more improvements are planned for the next offseason to achieve 17,000 quality viewing seats in the coming years. The Utah government fully backs this plan, but fans are still upset about the current situation. Is this supposed to be a flex?

Some have compared it to the Islanders' stint at Barclays Center, noting the similarly poor sightlines. Those seats along the goal line are brutal. You have to crank your neck to the right to watch the play. Awful Barclays Center vibes.

Others pointed out that the venue would host about as many fans as the OHL's London Knights, and the Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears' Giant Center, which seats 10,500, could use more space as well. Despite the criticism, some fans appreciate the uniqueness of the setup. I like it because it's unique. That's going to be a fun environment. The stacked rows need to be covered with a cool backdrop

And while it's not ideal, it's an improvement over playing in a 5,000-seat Mullet Arena like the Arizona Coyotes did for the last two years.

Salt Lake City is also eyeing another Winter Olympics bid for 2034, with plans to renovate the building for hockey. So, while it will eventually be suitable for the sport, fans have every reason to gripe for now.
