Today the NHL makes history welcoming the Utah Hockey Club to the league with their first game in franchise history and now their lines have been revealed.

The Utah Hockey Club has had a whirlwind of a summer. After years of turmoil trying to secure a site for a new arena in Arizona the NHL decided to relocate the Arizona Coyotes to Utah. Since then the team has been preparing for tonight their first opportunity to play in a new city and in front of a new fanbase.

Earlier this week the Utah Hockey Club kicked off the excitement by announcing that veteran forward Clayton Keller would be the first captain in team history. Keller was named the captain in a ceremony last week.

After naming Clayton Keller the team's captain the Utah Hockey Club also announced the addition of Lawson Crouse as an associate captain for the 2024-25 season.

This morning the team took the ice in Utah one final time before their much-anticipated debut tonight. During that skate the lines that the team will likely use in tonight's game were debuted.

In preparation for their game against the Chicago Blackhawks tonight the Utah Hockey Club went through line rushes. The team was led on the first line by new captain Clayton Keller.

Centering Clayton Keller's line is former top 5 pick Barrett Hayton and then on the right win is veteran Nick Schmaltz. On defense, the Utah Hockey Club is anchored by new addition Mikhail Sergachev. Sergachev was acquired this summer in a blockbuster trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Expected to start in goal is Connor Ingram who is entering his third season with the organization.

Players began arriving ahead of the game and had the opportunity to walk down the blue carpet and interact with fans before tonight's big game.

Under former owner Alex Meruelo the Arizona Coyotes were often an afterthought in the Stanley Cup playoffs picture. After many years of trying to claw their way to the playoffs, new owner Ryan Smith has promised fans a competitive team. The Club's aggressive moves this summer should set them up to be a fringe playoff team if all goes well.

As the season begins tonight Utah fans will get a first look at the heights their team might be able to achieve this season. Taking down the Chicago Blackhawks would be a much needed first step in a path to the playoffs.
