The Vancouver Canucks got some bad news regarding Brock Boeser last night, as it appears their star player will be out of the lineup for many games. The Vancouver Canucks announced they will be without forward Brock Boeser indefinitely after an upper-body injury in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings. During the first period, Boeser was hit by Tanner Jeannot. Boeser did not return and then missed the Canucks morning skate prior to their Saturday game against the Edmonton Oilers. «I talked to him briefly,» coach Rick Tocchet said of Boeser. «Doesn't feel great, but I wouldn't say it's horrible, so I think he's indefinite right now. These things can change [in] a week or 24 hours. I don't know. It's a dangerous play, and hopefully Brock is going to be OK,» Tocchet said.

Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin said Boeser's injury status remains to be determined and no timeline has been established for his return. Jeannot received a match penalty for an illegal hit to the head on Boeser and, on Friday, the NHL Department of Player Safety added three games to that penalty for his actions in that incident.

Losing Boeser is a huge blow to the Canucks, who have relied heavily upon his offense this season. The 27-year-old forward leads Vancouver in goals behind only defenseman Quinn Hughes. Boeser has been crucial for the top line and first power-play unit for much of the season. Boeser's last season was a career-best one in which he tallied 40 goals and 73 points over 81 games. Since being selected 23rd overall by Vancouver in the 2015 NHL Draft, he has collected 395 points, with 185 goals, and 210 assists, in 491 games, all with the Canucks. In the meantime, his absence will create a significant hole in Vancouver's offensive lineup.
