The Canucks may likely have to start the season without their top two goaltenders, as Thatcher Demko and Arturs Silovs appear to both be injured.

Anybody want to play goalie in Vancouver this season?

As they try and find some sense of stability in the net, it appears the Vancouver Canucks can't catch a break. Starter Thatcher Demko may not be ready to go for the start of the 2024-25 season, as he has an injury, and now word is backup Arturs Silovs is also dealing with an injury to his knee. That would put both of their top goalies on the shelf, leaving just 25-year-old Jiri Patera, who has played just eight NHL games, as their best option.

Due to inflammation in his knee, Arturs Silovs was even taken out of the Latvian team ahead of their upcoming Olympic qualifiers. It seems that the Canucks management will truly be busy this week trying to figure out this mess of a situation the team is now in.

This is not the news that Canucks fans wanted to hear. October games are just as important as March and April games, so fans are praying for a miracle in the next six weeks before the regular season begins.
