Chaos unfolded tonight between the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers as tensions boiled over. The result was a full line brawl, with four players sent to the sin bin.

The line brawl unfolded just a little over half way through the first period. The Hurricanes were up 1-0 thanks to their dominant performance in the period, highlighted by a goal from trade deadline acquisition Jake Guentzel. Shortly after his goal is when things got a little crazy.

THINGS JUST KICKED UP A NOTCH 😳

The linesmen had to work overtime on this shift, separating Jimmy Vesey from an enraged Jasperi Kotkaniemi. The rest of the players on the ice grabbed a partner too, but no one was going at it like those two.

HUG ME BROTHA

Ultimately, Both Vesey and Kotkaniemi ended up in the box, one for roughing and the other for unsportsmanlike conduct. In total, four players went to the box, resulting in 5 on 5 play.

No reason for Vesey to go after Necas with a high cheap shot hit after things looked to start calming down.

Kotkaniemi & Vesey both got unsportsmanlike for this. #CauseChaos

The Hurricanes came out of the period on top 1-0, but the Rangers will be looking to respond after they had what was arguably their worst period of hockey in the playoffs so far. Be sure to stay tuned to see how the rest of the game plays out.
