The Toronto Maple Leafs appear to be ready to make the big change, but after Sheldon Keefe, we may not see another one anytime soon. Following days of anticipation, the Toronto Maple Leafs made their first big move of the summer early on Thursday when they officially parted ways with Sheldon Keefe.

With more changes likely to come, eyes now turn to President Brendan Shanahan, who has played just as big a role in the teams playoff struggles over the past few years, with many Maple Leafs fans wanting him to be moved on.

It's become more and more clear that Shanahan just doesn't have the experience in the role to make an impact for the Maple Leafs, and with the team obviously not letting go of GM Brad Treliving after just one year, a chance could certainly still be made. According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman however, that's not likely to happen this year, at least according to what he's heard; Shanahan is staying, at least for another year. I could always be wrong, but that's the impression I'm getting. He's got more year left on his contract and I expect that as it stands right now, he's going to be there to finish it out.

With Mitch Marner and John Tavares both hitting free agency soon and drawing plenty of criticism, the future is up in the air for Toronto, but it appears as though at least for now, Shanahan is staying put.
