The Bruins and Lightning for momentum heading into the NHL playoffs. In pursuit of that goal, Trent Frederic and Tanner Jeannot dropped the gloves in a wild fight.

The Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning have a long history, especially in the last few years with one another. Tonight this history continued as Bruins forward Trent Frederic and Tanner Jeannot engaged in a thrilling fight.

The fight left Trent Frederic leaking blood and heading off the ice. Both teams were tied at one when the fight occurred. Now heading into the second period things remain tied. However, Trent Frederic was forced to leave the game due to his injuries and has not returned to this point.

This fight is the latest in a major uptick in fighting over the last several months. The catalyst for this resurgence in fights can be attributed to the notoriety of Matt Rempe during his insane fights to begin his career such as the one against Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer Ryan Reaves

Over the past several years fighting has not had a marquee place in playoff hockey. Once teams get into the playoffs fights are few and far between. With the increase in fights as a whole, it will be interesting to see if that changes for this season.
