One of the best players of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Mitch Marner, officially joined the Long Term Injury Reserve. Marner has been dealing with a high-ankle sprain for the past few weeks and it was worse than initially believed.
Maple Leafs move Mitch Marner on the LTIR, but could still come back this week
The Leafs place Mitch Marner on the LTIR, retroactive to March 7th, when he got injured. Considering that a player must remain on the LTIR for at least 10 games or 24 days, this means that he could come back this week. The Maple Leafs have placed F Mitch Marner on LTI retroactive to March 7 for roster management purposes, and recalled D Marshall Rifai from the @TorontoMarlies.

Cap move. Marner eligible to come off tomorrow and play this week

However, in the meantime, he'll miss tonight's crucial game against the Buffalo Sabres. In fact, not knowing when he'll be back isn't the ideal scenario. The Leafs have 10 games remaining to their season, and seven of those are against teams from their division. With the playoff race extremely tight, they'll need all the help they can get to win if they want to make it. The pressure is definitely on Sheldon Keefe and the Leafs, who have a reputation of blowing leads. They'll surely hope to keep that one. More to come.
