The Habs may have one of the best prospect pools in the entire NHL, there's still a glaring gap. In fact, there's no big star up front. As we saw with the Golden Knights' recent Stanley Cup triumph, you don't absolutely need Connor McDavid or Sidney Crosby to win, but it's still a big help. Especially since the CH had the chance to draft one this year, and they chose a defenseman again. As an organization, the Habs obviously want to see progression from year to year, and that's perfectly normal. However, it could well be another difficult year, and if the CH were to finish bottom of the standings, there's one name to remember. It's Cole Eiserman. The forward is seen as a top-2 pick in the upcoming draft, and rightly so. In 62 games with the American development program last year, he scored 69 goals. He's been described as a cross between Auston Matthews and Cole Caufield. Solid! The 2024 NHL draft promises to be a crop of good defensemen, something the Habs already have. Kent Hughes could go the other way and target the best available forward, which could be Eiserman if the team finishes the season with a poor record.
