The 2022-23 season of the Canadiens was not a great success. Too many injuries and a lack of offensive production from certain players were the cause of the club's low ranking.

However, it allowed the young players and prospects to stand out and reassure the fans about the team's future.

Several names come up when we talk about the future of the Canadiens. One in particular, who was acquired by the CH through a trade last season, is currently playing with the Laval Rocket. The Swedish player, Emil Heineman, was part of the Tyler Toffoli trade with the Calgary Flames.

He is now playing for the Canadiens' school team and is excelling offensively in every game.

Heineman has 7 goals and 2 assists for a total of 9 points in only 11 games.

Inspired by the play of Sidney Crosby and Peter Forsberg, the 21 year old would like to be on the CH team next season. Would he have as much ease in producing in the National League?

Should he wait one more season and improve his game more in the AHL?

I think that will depend on his efforts in training camp and in the Rocket's final games. If he shows that he is ready to be promoted to the NHL, he can earn his spot on the roster.

There is also the possibility that he could be recalled due to injury later in the season, which would give him a chance to prove himself once again with the Habs.

It remains to be seen how he will perform by the start of the 2023-24 season.
