Those who watched Canadiens f hockey in the 2000s will remember Alex Kovalev. He was the last player to score more than one point per game in a season with the Tricolore, and what can we say about his unique talent? Kovalev single-handedly electrified the Bell Centre. When he was on his game, there was no stopping him, as the video below demonstrates.

In a recent interview with Radio-Canada's Alexandre Gascon, the Canadiens' former number 27 admitted that he should never have left the organization to sign in Ottawa. What he says about his success and the fans is just remarkable. I made a mistake and got a little too greedy. On the other hand, I wanted to be shown respect, which I didn't get. I wasn't asking for much more, just a small raise. If I had to do it all over again, I would have accepted the Canadiens' offer rather than the Senators in the summer of 2009. There would have been a bit of bitterness, because I wanted to be recognized for what I'd accomplished for the team, but I think it would have been much better for my career. I'd probably say: OK, I'll take it even if they disrespect me a bit, but it's more important for me and my family. I felt good in Montreal with the organization, with the fans. I think it's thanks to them that I've had so much success. - Alex Kovalev We're talking about quite a hockey player here, probably the best we've seen in Montreal since the new centennial. He says the fans are a big part of his success. I love it! Does Kovalev deserve to be in the Hockey Hall of Fame? See what he thinks. I think I deserve to be in the Hockey Hall of Fame. If you compare me to some of the players who've been in there, I've accomplished more. But it's not my decision. I deserve it because of everything I've achieved as a Russian player, both internationally and in the National League. In this day and age, it's going to be even harder for some players to get in, because of everything that's going on in the world. - Alex Kovalev Aware of the current geo-political situation, Kovalev has no illusions, but he would certainly like to be inducted one day. With a career total of 1,029 points and a Stanley Cup ring, he can believe it, but there are other candidates who deserve their place before him.
