The Matvei Michkov issue will never be easy for the Philadelphia Flyers. Daniel Brière and his team have embarked on a long and complex process, for which they won't have much cooperation from the KHL. Mishkov's start to the season in Russia has been very ordinary for his development. The young sensation was left out of three out of four games by SKA St. Petersburg, before being loaned out to Sochi HC. With a contract until 2026 in the KHL, time could be running out for Michkov. He admits that there is a glimmer of hope for this season. Goalie Ivan Fedotov has a contract with Philadelphia, but has decided to stay in Russia. The IIHF suspended him from all games in Russia for the year, but he played with his team anyway. Now a proposal from Philly Hockey Now reporter Chuck Bausman has surfaced, and while complex, it could work. Bausman proposes that the Flyers come to an agreement with the KHL to release Fedotov and, conversely, that the KHL release Michkov. We agree that this is a long shot and probably won't happen, but it remains a possibility for Daniel Brière to explore.

Credit: Go Nordiques
