Canadiens fans were disappointed to learn that Anthony Richard had opted for the Bruins over the Habs a few weeks ago. The Quebecer signed a deal similar to what he would have had in Montreal, which raised questions. Obviously, the two teams' situations are very different, and Richard's chances of landing a spot with the Bruins are greater. Jim Montgomery has told him that he's looking for speed, which the Quebecker can offer the team. What's more, Anthony has decided to bet on him and not on the other players. I didn't want to let other people's performances dictate my chances of making the team or not - Anthony Richard In Montreal, with 14 NHL contracts to forwards, Richard would have been recalled because of injuries or performances far below expectations on the part of certain players. In Boston, he controls his own destiny. There are 12 forwards signed, two or three of whom are in the same situation as Richard, i.e. uncertain of making the team. What's more, his low salary will work in his favor, as the Bruins have no room to maneuver under the salary cap.

I didn't want to let other people's performances dictate my chances of making the team or not.

Anthony Richard knew that with so many forwards under contract in Montreal, it was virtually impossible for him to play in the NHL. https://t.co/glVsSXaQqj- Simon-Olivier Lorange (@SO_Lorange) July 24, 2023
