On Monday the London Police held a press conference to update the public about the investigation into the 2018 Team Canada WJC roster.

Hockey Canada then released a statement after that and in the statement revealed a major piece that sees Makar banned from the Olympics.

Hockey Canada Statement Sees Players Like Makar Banned From The Olympics

It was revealed in the statement by Hockey Canada that any player apart of the 2018 Team Canada WJC roster would not be allowed to play in the Olympics.

As part of this statement, Hockey Canada says all players from that team remain suspended from international competition under its umbrella. Next year's Four Nations Faceoff is not part of this, as it is an NHL/NHLPA event

This is a must in the eyes of Hockey Canada at least while the investigation is still going on and while the courts decides what happens. There was rumors of it being a total of eight members involved however from what is known there was only enough evidence to charge five of the members.

With the ban on the Olympics, players like Cale Makar, Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou are ineligible to play for Team Canada at the 2026 Olympics in Milan, Italy.

Makar Breaks The Silence On Being Banned From The Olympics

Cale Makar being one of the best players in the league at the moment not being able to join Team Canada for the upcoming Olympics has brought many questions towards him and his potential involvement into the situation. This is what Makar has said so far:

«It's tough. I've been told not to comment on that ongoing investigation. I've been straightforward from the start. I wasn't there,» Makar said. «It was a very fortunate bounce to not obviously be a part of something like that. I'm just going to leave it to the people who are handling the work right now. I can't stress enough that I wasn't part of that.»

So while we do not know what is going to happen, all that is for sure known is that all of the 2018 Team Canada WJC roster is not allowed to be on the Olympic roster.
