The NHL All-Star game may no longer be the season's high point since it has disappointed over the past years, but there are still a few regular events that people eagerly anticipate. The hardest shot, the most accurate shot, and the fastest skater are the most popular for the audience. It makes sense that Connor McDavid, one of the best skaters in hockey history, would compete in the fastest skater event. Surprisingly, though, McDavid has informed the NHL players association that he will not be competing in the event for the remainder of his career.

Jordan Kyrou defeated him in the competition last season. Perhaps McDavid's ego was too bruised by this loss? It will be disheartening not to witness McDavid compete for the title of fastest skater, whatever the reason behind his choice.
