At the last trade deadline, Kent Hughes acquired William Lagesson, a conditional second-round pick in 2022 and a seventh-round pick in 2024 for Brett Kulak.

The former Canadiens number 77 has done well since arriving in Edmonton, so much so that he earned a four season contract with the Oilers this summer.

Since the start of the season, Kulak has shown his reliability with his new team. While he has yet to score, he is the only defenseman to never be on the ice in a five-on-five goal situation.

We knew Kulak was a good defenseman in Montreal, even if he lacked consistency at times. But he seems to have found his niche in Edmonton.
