The current Vancouver Canucks are looking like one of the best teams the city has seen in a decade. However, one former Canuck is now facing a serious legal battle after he allegedly defrauded clients for millions of dollars.
Former Canuck Draft Pick Arrested On Fraud Charges
Prab Rai, a 5th round pick of the Canucks in 2008, has apparently entered a life of crime after his hockey career was cut short by a car accident in 2010. Rai was arrested yesterday after a nearly three-year investigation found substantial evidence that he was involved in a fraud scheme spanning from 2015 to 2021. Surrey RCMP released the following statement regarding his arrest. «The Surrey FCU began an investigation into a fraud spanning from 2015 to 2021 after a victim came forward to police, alleging they had lost several million dollars in real estate investment opportunities.»

Rai's Promising Career Cut Short By Injury
The Canucks drafted Rai, a native of Surrey, BC, 131st overall in 2008. He lead the Seattle Thunderbirds in scoring with 69 points in 67 games in his final season with the team back in 2009-10. The Canucks subsequently signed him to a standard entry-level contract in march of 2010. He was never the same after a car accident later that year left him with significant persistent back pain that he could never resolve. He went on to play 38 games after the injury, all in the ECHL.
