Rumors are swirling that Jesse Puljujarvi may be bidding adieu to the NHL this summer, should the Hurricanes not extend his contract.

Puljujarvi, with the weight of the fourth overall pick in the 2016 draft on his shoulders, has had a rather rocky journey in the NHL, a path that hasn't quite unfolded as he might have envisioned.

His stint with the Edmonton Oilers fell short of expectations, and the fan base breathed a sigh of relief when he found a new home with the Carolina Hurricanes, a change of scenery that many hoped would serve as a fresh start.

Regrettably, his voyage in Carolina has also been strewn with obstacles, not quite the revival that was hoped for.

On the 1st of July, he is set to hit the market as an Unrestricted Free Agent (UFA).

"It was a worthy gamble for the Hurricanes, acquiring Puljujarvi for next to nothing, to see if he could find magic with some fellow Finns. It didn't work out. He didn't score a single goal in 24 total games and was a healthy scratch for eight of Carolina's 15 playoff contests." -Frank Seravalli

If the NHL continues to hold its doors shut, it seems probable that Puljujarvi might cross the Atlantic, seeking greener pastures in either Europe or the KHL.

As the summer looms, the question on everyone's mind is - will Puljujarvi bid farewell to the NHL? What's your take on this?
